I. Classification by Turn-off, Conduction, and Control Methods Thyristors can be classified into several types according to their turn-off, conduction, and control methods, including ordinary thyristors, bidirectional thyristors, reverse-conducting thyristors, gate turn-off thyristors (GTOs), BTG thyristors, temperature-controlled thyristors, and light-controlled thyristors.

II. Classification by Pins and Polarity Thyristors can be classified into two-terminal thyristors, three-terminal thyristors, and four-terminal thyristors according to their pins and polarity.
III. Classification by Packaging Form Thyristors can be classified into three types according to their packaging form: metal-cased thyristors, plastic-cased thyristors, and ceramic-cased thyristors. Metal-cased thyristors are further divided into several types such as bolt-type, plate-type, and cylindrical-shell type; plastic-cased thyristors are divided into types with and without heat sinks.
IV. Classification by Current Capacity Thyristors can be classified into three types according to their current capacity: high-power thyristors, medium-power thyristors, and low-power thyristors. Typically, high-power thyristors use metal casings, while medium- and low-power thyristors mostly use plastic or ceramic casings.
V. Classification by Turn-off Speed Thyristors can be classified into ordinary thyristors and high-frequency (fast) thyristors according to their turn-off speed.
